Little peapod.

Not much new here in RobertsonLand as evidenced by the fact that I'm posting more food/eating pics. This episode: peas. Yum. Every kid's favorite, tiny vegetable. Every once in a while "the well goes dry" and I run out of things to blab, err, blog about. Maybe inspiration will strike tomorrow. Shrug.

Yes you can.

You too can make your own poster inspired by Shepard Fairey's HOPE poster for our newest President. Here's my tongue-in-cheek version for Mr. O...

Six months.

Our little man is growing up and has already hit the half-birthday mark! Here are some fun facts about Owen.
  • Loves touching his toes. And putting them in his mouth.
  • Listens to piano music to go to sleep each night. Classy, I know.
  • Still has his blue eyes-- that Mom and Dad hope he keeps.
  • Getting more and more blonde hair by the day.
  • Likes "tummy time", but isn't rolling over a lot just yet.
  • Giggles like a mad man when you say "yes, Yes, YES."
  • Total ladies man. The teachers at daycare all fight over him, claiming "He's MY Owen!"
  • No teeth just yet.
  • Eats rice cereal, peas, sweet potatoes and carrots so far.
  • Jumps high like a kangaroo in his Rainforest Jumperoo entertainer.
  • Enjoys when Mom says "Bouncy, bouncy, bouncy."
  • And Dad sings "Ride, ride, ride the bicycle."
  • Loves anything that lights up.
  • Makes funny growl-like sounds for no reason.
  • Likes to "help" when being given his bottle or a spoonful of food.
  • Rubs his eyes to signal "get me to bed." Crashes instantly.
  • Travels like a champ.
  • Sidekick = Muno.
  • Is sleeping better and better, but still wakes Mama up about once each night.

You're a star, kiddo.

Last week, you may remember we took Owen to get his pictures taken for a Target marketing project. As it turns out, the Art Director is going with Connor's pics intead, to appear soon on bottle liner packaging. It's all good though b/c Connor is Owen's homeboy, and we get to nickname him Zoolander from here on. The best part of this whole experience is that we got a dozen or so professionally-shot photos. We're really happy to have these in the ol' baby book. Check 'em out...

Zzzzzzz.

Now that Owen is getting bigger, it's rare that he will crash out on either one of our chests any more. So this photo is a very rare moment. It's one of those photos that I just can't get enough of. Absolutely love it. -T

Lazy Sunday.

Because Owen is in daycare much of the week, the weekends are really the time when we get to play with O the most. Here's a typical Sat/Sun morning in the Robertson household. Oh how life has changed. :)

O's first real meal.

After months of drinking his dinners, Owen sat down for some real food recently-- a la rice cereal. He squirmed and grimaced and reacted about how we thought he would. Although, since we snapped these photos, O-Robs has been warming up to the idea of rice cereal a bit. More photos of messy goodness to come, I'm sure.

The aquarium.

On the topic of Things That Light Up, here's a glimpse into Owen's typical morning. Upon waking up, he likes to laugh/cackle/giggle at his Fisher-Price Aquarium that's mounted to his crib. So when he starts to whine we know the deal: keep the aquarium going at all costs. Why? Moving Fish + Lights + Music x Water = good times.

Let there be lights!

We found these retro snowball lights while at the company store the other day, and thought we'd hang them up as "winter lights." Naturally, Owen LOVES them so I had to snap some photos of Mama Bird and Baby Bird enjoying the light show.

Connor time.

On Saturday, we were over at Jee & Chris' place for a nice dinner and a chance for the boys (Connor and Owen) to play together. Well, at this point, the little ones are playing adjacent to one another, but hey it's a start. No eyes were gouged. And no hair was pulled. In other words, a success. And it's always a pleasure hanging with Jee & Chris. We enjoyed hearing "what's next" when it comes to Owen's development, since Connor is roughly a month older.

Say cheese.

About 10:30 this morning, we took Big Boy out to Hopkins, MN for a Target photo shoot. Upon arrival at Fuzebox Studio, we hung out for a bit to let the little guy slowly awake from his "commuter snoozefest." (Owen always likes to catch some zzz's when us big people are driving him around.) Upon filling out some paperwork, we were off to Hair & Make-up. As you could guess, the first part was a breeze. For the make-up part, I have to say O-Robs was as cool as a penguin drinking a milkshake-- even while the lady brushed some kind of powdery bidness on his cheeks. Nearby, a couple of crew ladies were ooh'ing and ahh'ing over him as he giggled and flirted with them non-stop. Total lady killer, that boy. Next thing we knew it, it was show time. As the pictures show, this was a topless shoot for Mr. Owen but he handled the task nicely-- like an extremely professional, Brazilian supermodel. Oh, and to keep O from getting cold, the assistants directed a heater at him the whole time. He was in heaven. The boy just laid on his back looking up at the camera while all the strobe-y flashes were going off. Mom and Dad tickled him, dangled toys and played baby games for the full hour while Owen impressed the photographer with his calm and patient demeanor. Such a good day for Owen. Not a peep out of the little guy, much to everyone's surprise. The pictures looked incredible so I'm hoping that we get a couple to share these with you all soon. O's photo should appear on packaging for a Target baby product in the next few months, which we'll naturally be buying a ton of whenever we find out whatever it is. Meanwhile here are a couple snaps I got with my phone...

Oh no, it's Monday!

Fun news.

Last week, we received an email at work that said: "Calling all Target babies!", asking for cute babies to be photographed for a Target marketing project. So, we copied some photos from this here blog, then shot off an email not thinking much of it. (Ok, secretly, we crossed our fingers hoping he would get chosen from the scads and scads of other cute Target babies. Who wouldn't want their kid to be deemed "cute"?)
Well, we found out on Friday that Owen and his friend Connor were chosen as 2 of 6 babies to be photo'd!
Monday 1/12 is the shoot and we'll be posting behind-the-scenes photos and any news about what the pics may be used for afterwards. All we know is that Owen is going to be wearing just a diaper at the session, which should be pretty darn adorable.

Wow. Over 200 posts.

Thought it would be nice to take a second to pause and say THANK YOU to all of you who take time out of your busy lives to log on and peek at the heyrobertsons blog every once in a while. To date, Katie and I have published over 200 posts since December 07! Can you believe it? The whole experience has been more fun than Katie and I ever could've imagined when we set out to make this blog upon hearing the news of Baby R back then.
Here are some other fun facts...
In the last 2 years, we've received over 12,000 visits (averaging about 30 visitors each day) and more than 20,000 page views. Our visitors hail from the east and west coasts and everywhere in between-- 17 of the 50 States and counting-- plus friends in China, Australia, U.K. and Canada.
As if all of this wasn't geeky enough, here's a "tag cloud" of the most commonly used words in the past 200+ posts. Apparently I say "fruit-o-meter" a lot...

New Year's Eve, Mad Men style.

Last week, to ring in the New Year in style, we hosted an impromptu party at our place-- Mad Men -style for a bunch of friends from work. And if you've seen our place, you know that it takes little more than an arm twist to get us channelin' that late 50s/early 60s vibe. Stuff back then had style. Plastic? Hell no. Things were made to last. Real metal. Real wood. Oh, and Linoleum (but we won't go there). Katie prepared the most amazingly delectable food and fondue, we mixed up some atomic age cocktails, sparked up the record player (for you young'Ns, we're talking L.P.s,) and dressed up in our swankiest of retro fashion. We even had photos of the Mad Men characters playing on a slideshow on the tee-vee--- Betts, Don Draper, Peggy, Mr. Sterling, etc. etc. For fun, those of us who can't manage to grow facial hair donned fake moustaches (or as we say in the business, "moose-tashhhez"). Not to be outdone, Owen Boy joined the party the next morning rockin' his caterpillar 'stache. And his Colonel Sanders 'stache. Man, that kid sure is growing up. *sniffle *sniffle.

Christmas sampler.

Before we take the x-mas lights down, I thought I'd post some photos of our holiday festivities at K's parents' house. I didn't want to bore you all with all 30 or so photos, so I just chose a sampling of them for you here, this fine Friday. "Feliz Navidad." See, I did it again. Can't help it. It's like Holiday Tourette's or something. This first photo made me say it.
