A little breather.

Hello blog watchers, we're taking a little timeout this week b/c there's a lot happening with Katie going back to work and Owen heading off to "school" (daycare). We hope to be back on the blogtrain next week.

One week left.

Well, today the countdown begins. It's the one week mark when Katie goes back to work. Let's just say Katie and Owen are milking every minute out of each day to make the best of it. She's excited to go back to work, but knows there will be days she'll miss the quality time with her little man. We're very fortunate that she was able to take 13.5 weeks off. Here's a pick of them walking around Lake Calhoun and enjoying lunch together.

Stop and smell the roses.

Yesterday, we mentioned that Owen loves the outdoors. Today, we thought we'd share things from his perspective. Below is a picture of what our little man sees when he's looking up. It's a wonderful treat to slow life down a bit and to look at things from his point of view. It really makes us appreciate things all over again as if it was the first time we're looking at something.

Hangin' with Mr. Owen.

As many of you may know, Mr. Owen LOVES everything about the outdoors. Some of his favorite things to do are to look out the windows, stare up at the leaves/sky, and watch Mother Nature do her thing. Here are some picks from last weekend out at Katie's parents house. In our opinion it looked like the leaves were at their peak. It was a special treat for such a wonderful, warm, and sunny day. We spent much of the afternoon outside looking up into the trees, playing, feeling the warm breeze on our faces, cooing, chill-axing (chilling and relaxing at the same time), laughing and listening to the loons call to each other. It's what we'd like to call a perfect day.

Peggy Party.

We celebrated our goddaughter Peggy's 1st b-day on Saturday! It's amazing to see how fast these kids grow up. Peggy and mr. cupcake had a face-to-face encounter. And Owen woke up for a little bit, just in time to say hi to all the family friends that were there. Good times.

Heads up.

Lately during the day, Mama Bird has been doing lots of tummy time with O-Robs to strengthen his neck so he can hold his head up. Here he is in his Bumbo seat. Lookin good, kiddo.

Monday Grab Bag.

It's Monday. So why not just show you a few random images that we pulled out of our iPhoto grab bag? Yeah, good call. Here comes a handpicked array starring Owen as a 2-month old.

In this candid photo, Owen is doing his classic:
A) Elvis impersonation.
B) Televangelist: "You are healed!" imitation.
C) Getting 'called on' by his teacher
D) Dreaming of his mobile.

Nake-y, nake-y.

Is there anything sweeter than a baby sleeping in your arms?

All dressed up. And nowhere to go (but his car seat).

Mold-O-Rama.

Well, it's the weekend. So as you can probably tell by now, the Robertsons don't do much bloggin' on the weekends and like to keep our posts to bidness only: Mon-Fri. But for you Sat-Sun readers, I wanted to share a favorite thing from our trip to the Zoo last weekend. The Mold-O-Rama. Straight from the 1950s-60s, these beautiful machines can inject pipin' hot plastic into a mold then create a wild animal souvenir for all to enjoy. Growing up in St. Louis and going to the world famous (free) Zoo there as a kid, I have fond memories of the Mold-O-Rama.
Fun fact: at Como Zoo, the machines were such fan favorites that they had to be brought back out of retirement. Here's the gorilla one we saw last Saturday. We also
saw a blue polar bear machine and a couple others there. Good stuff. Check out the strange warning sign and the mod graphic design. Nice. -T

The Zoo, part two.

Our two-part zoo blog-a-thon continues today with more photo opps. Too much fun to contain in just one post. Enjoy.

Owen pets the mountain lion. Sorta.

Team Robertson.

Look Owen, a real ligre.

A sunbather.

Hanging in.

After the zoo, we strolled over to the Conservatory for a little flower watching.

The Zoo, part one.

The fam took a trip on Saturday to St. Paul's Como Zoo. It was a blast, and Owen was in absolute awe watching all of the birds, monkeys, tigers, giraffes and more. Right now he just loves soaking up the world around him, particularly trees and sunlight-- really, light of any kind. His eyes got sooo big for the couple of hours we were there. Afterwards, we returned home and Owen was zonked out, his senses exhausted from working so hard all day.

Here's Owen, getting excited to go to Como Zoo.
(Please ignore his Dad as he partakes in lame baby talk.)

It's Zoo Time, buddy!

Insert joke here.

Just chillin.

The giraffe. Nature's supermodel.

Six in a row.

A little thing we like to do with Owen is just take a bunch of consecutive photos of him and see what happens. Sorta like a photo booth. Here you go, six in a row...

Totally drunk.

Here's the Owen, lounging with his belly full of milk. Secretly, we love these pictures. Though I think he'd be a little P.O.'d at Mom and Dad for showing off his milk belly. Or maybe he'd be proud of his milk belly? Like some big trophy buck hanging above his fireplace? Would Owen have a house with a fireplace at all? I digress.
