Cheers.

Last Saturday night we had Karl and Jess over to our place for a much-overdue dinner. Katie made an amazing steak dinner and the four of us sat around jibber-jabbering until 2 in the morning (while enjoying a fair share of adult beverages). Here's the only photo we took that night, right before Owen went to bed. Cheers buddy!

Castle crash.

Taking a cue from O's friend Whitney, we got Owen a set of blocks that look like wood but are made of foam. Besides chewing on said blocks, Sir Owen also enjoys doing this...

Brunchin' it Noah style.

It seems like forever ago that we've hung out with the LaFrance's and their 4-month old, Noah. Well, on Sunday we hit an irish pub in Excelsior to catch up on baby talk, life, work stuff, etc. It was fun to see how big their little man has grown since our last visit when he was just born. Always great to see Team LaFrance. Let's hang out again soon!

Modeling gig #2.

A couple months ago, Katie heard that Target was having their once-a-year audition for babies so she said "what the heck" and took a chance. Since there were a couple hundred kiddos, we weren't thinking O would be selected— especially since he was pretty mellow the day of the audition. Then, last week we got a call that Owen was picked for another Target project! Who knows if his photo will be featured in the final marketing materials, but we're just thrilled to have super-professional photos of our little guy.
P.S. By the way, Katie is a BIG, BIG fan of the model guy who Owen got to play with. Katie calls him "my other husband." Travis calls him "fake Daddy." People at Travis' work say: "The guy kinda looks like Travis if Travis had a healthy tan, was better looking and was in better shape." Travis says Owen knows who his favorite Daddy is.
P.S.S. Owen was so good at the photo shoot that he was asked back to do another photo shoot this Thursday! We'll post more outtakes from gig #3 next week.

Rascal-y rascal.

Yesterday, when Owen was waking up from his nap, we found him doing this...
(Needless to say we lowered the crib right away to prevent future escapes).

Heyrobertsons 2.0.

Hello friends. As you can tell, we gave the blog a face lift over the weekend. Let us know what you think by taking the poll in the upper right corner or dropping us a comment. We heard that ye olde blog was loading slow for people, so we'll try showing only the last 5 days/posts on the main page with the hopes that this speeds things up a bit. We aim to please.
P.S. We also heard that a couple people were missing Owen updates last week (ahem, Mrs. Bunce) so we're gonna give it everything we got this week. Maybe even throw in a couple "bonus posts" just for kicks. :)

Parkin' it.

Here are some snaps from when we took O to the park in our 'hood. Owen went down the slide with Mama Bird and Daddy, then took the swings for a ride. He loved the swing 99% of the time, especially when he could act like he was going to grab Dad's hat. But when O leaned back a little in the chair, he got scared and revealed his elusive pout-y lip.
Now that it's warming up, we're looking forward to taking the stroller all over town. Wherever you see colorful slides and people wearing sweatpants and fanny packs, you'll find the Robertson Three this Spring and Summer.

Molly moo cow comes home.

The other day we pulled up to our house and noticed a mysterious package on the front porch. What could it be? Molly. Molly Moo Cow. G-ma Robertson sent him a Molly from St. Louis. We were so excited to give it to Owen. It's fun b/c he has this love/hate thing going with the girl. When she's at eye level with him and moos, he gets nervous. But when he has her pinned down and is chewing on her tail, he's "the alpha dog" and thinks it's hilarious. Overall though, I'd say he is a big, BIG fan of Molly girl.
(Did you know that there's a giganto Molly Moo Cow in front of the Fisher-Price HQ in East Aurora, New York? Now ya do. Tell a friend.)

Splash!

For the last couple of weeks, Daddy has been jumping in the tub to take baths with Owen. (Don't worry, it's not a creepy thing. I wear swim trunks. There I said it.) We splash and giggle while Mama Bird tries to shampoo and scrub a dub the little guy. Owen likes to cackle at his rubber duckies, then gnaw on their beaks. Good fun.
P.S. When posting this story, I found an old pic of me in the tub when I was Owen's age. Yeah, us guys look nothing alike.

Owen loves tupperware and "recycling" old magazines. He especially likes to read TIME.

Sap-tastic!

Every year, Katie's dad taps the trees in his backyard in order to drain sap and create homemade maple syrup. The man has become semi-famous for the stuff, this side of the Mississippa. So we took Owen over there on Saturday to experience syrup-making firsthand. For the first half hour, Owen was in total awe of the whole production: three pots boiling, logs being fed to the fire, two "workers", and (a new upgrade this year) an air blower to increase the fire's rage.
The best part? As an on-site Q.C.R. (Quality Control Representative), Owen was awarded with a little sip of this year's batch-- from the C.S.O. (Chief Sapping Officer/Grandpa). At first, Owen wasn't sure what to think of it, but we think he liked it on the second and third sips.
Note: Owen is wearing Katie's jacket b/c, being the awesome parents we are, we forgot to bring little man's jacket. Kinda funny, but we made do. Improvise!

Snow, snow, go away?

Late Saturday night, we 'sotans received a hefty, more-than-dusting of snow. It was beautiful, I admit. But man, I'm ready for Spring to get sprung.

8 months.

Katie and I got a little sad the other day when realizing that Mr. O is almost a year old. People always told us that "time flies so fast" when you have a kid, but I think we're just now starting to realize that.
What an 8 months it's been! So much fun. Here's what's new with O:
  • Crawling backwards. And as of this weekend, moving forwards too. Real crawling to begin any day now.
  • Flipping, squirming and contorting in bed (and while on changing table. Aargh.)
  • Still smiley and giggly.
  • No separation anxiety just yet.
  • Loves to be scared. (Look for a video this week.)
  • Loves playing in the bath.
  • Hair is growing more and more although his first haircut is still a ways away.
  • Sleeps through the night for the most part. (Sometimes he bonks his head on the crib and wakes up).
  • New friend = Molly Moo Cow.
  • New enemy = Molly Moo Cow. (I'll explain later.)
  • Growing like a weed. Wearing 12 month clothes at less than 9 months.
  • Equal-opportunity eater. Not picky. Eats like a champ. Still can't figure out how to pick up Cheerios and put them in his mouth, so we feed him like a baby bird.
  • Enjoys Trav's "monkey" imitation, but is still totally freaked out by the "elephant." (It's been known to happen.) We don't dare do "the badger." Yet.

Fool's gold.

Looks like our April Fool's Day trick worked for a few of you. People were calling Trav's mom to find out what was going on. And one friend even put us in touch with her acquaintances in India, (specifically in Noida, Chennai and Gurgaon). Thanks. But I think the closest we'll come to India is seeing "Slumdog" a few weekends ago.
Jai Ho! Let the bloggin' continue!

The end.

Dearest friends and family, the time has come to shut off the blog. It's just too expensive these days. And now that Travis took a job at Target's India office and the family is moving soon, it's going to be really tricky to keep things updated. Plus, we have squirrels in our walls so that's taking up a lot of time, too. Apparently, the squirrels liked the Squingee so much, they thought they'd pay us an up-close-and-personal visit. Thanks so much for reading the blog. Take care.
