The cackly cackler.

He cackles. He crawls. He drools. Here's Owen, our man of action:

10 months.

It's impossible to believe, but our little fella has already turned 10 months! Crazy. As you can see here, he's officially a toddler and not a baby anymore. Here's what he's up to these days:
  • Crawling like there's no tomorrow.
  • Raises arms over his head and smiles when we say "Owen is SOOOO big!"
  • Rolls up into a ball and giggle when you tickle his back.
  • Cackles constantly about anything he deems funny- his reflection, blinking light or standing up on a surface.
  • Loves touching anything that's got lights on it, especially our printer and Daddy's iPhone (Yeah I know, we're going to be in trouble with his emerging gadget fetish).
  • Waves "hello" when you wave to him.
  • Likes wrecking any castle that Mommy or Daddy makes with his blocks.
  • Favorite books right now: Welcome Spring, Dr. Seuss A to Z and Five Little Ladybugs.
  • Top toys: foam blocks, toy piano, Tupperware, Daddy's watch and Mommy's necklaces. Why do we bother buying toys again?
  • Sleeps through the night.
  • Pulls himself up to a standing position.
  • Crawls from room to room following us.
  • Loves art time at school and squishing paint through his fingers.
  • Scared of touching grass (b/c it's prickly).

Big shoes to fill.

When you're a Robertson, Owen, you have some big shoes to fill.

And he's off!

Owen is crawling everywhere these days. If you turn your head for a split second, the kid is truckin' it towards another room, the stairs or towards some pointy-edged coffee table (sorry, we can't give up our modern furniture). He's definitely keeping Katie and I on our toes. Good thing we're getting a new gate and railing installed this week to keep Owen from stair-surfin'.

A boy and his toys.

When my Mom was visiting the other day, she mentioned that her friends (after peeping the blog) asked: "Owen has a lot of strange toys. Does he have any normal ones?"
Sure, Owen likes to play with his cyclops friend Muno and his 3-horned pal Brobee. And yeah, he's dabbled with the unicorn once in a while. But I now submit to you Exhibit A as seen below: a jack-in-the-box. See? Totally normal. Totally classic.

Tissue paper toy.

What's the best gift Owen got for his Baptism? Tissue paper, of course. This video is pretty fun b/c you can see O-Max starting to pull himself up onto furniture.

Glorious day.

Owen's Baptism was a truly wonderful day. We held a private service at Mount Olivet with family and O's new Godparents, Nick and Stef Weber. Afterwards, we adjourned back to Chez Robertson for lunch, gift opening and to nosh on the incredible cake Katie Boo made. D-lightful. Thanks to all who joined us for this special day! And to my parents for making the trek to Minne!

Owen's Zoolander Photos.

Our little Zoolander had a couple modeling gigs recently. If you'd like to see the outtakes, point your mouse right here. Warning: CUTE OVERLOAD.

Halo heads.

Kids laugh when you put funny things on your head. What more can we say?

(Grand) Mom's Day.

For Mother's Day weekend, we knew Trav's parents were coming in to town, so we said let's double the fun and schedule O's Baptism that weekend too. What an excellent weekend it was. Margi and Bruce got to have some quality Owen time every day they were here, and the little guy was hooked. Although he doesn't see them that often, he definitely remembers them and reaches out for T's Mom whenever he sees her. Pretty cute. Here's a pic of Grandma feeding O-Max...

Catch up.

On Saturday, we finally got to catch up with the Gallagher's. We've been planning to visit them for weeks now, but our schedules just never were jiving. We had a nice lunch, played cards, had a tea party with Laene, spent time with Baby Fiona and watched Owen interact with a dog (Miles) for the first time. O got out his pouty lip at first, but then warmed up to the friendly fella. All together a fun, relaxing Saturday. Thanks guys!

Handle with care.

We got something fun in the mail today! It started giggling so we decided to keep it and not send it back. :)

Super Duper Playdate.

About a month ago, Katie took Owen to a multi-kid playdate. I don't know any of the exciting details, but I do know that O's wingman Connor was there. And that K read stories to a gaggle of kiddos. And that these pictures turned out pretty darn cute.

Cat in the hat.

When picking out the proper lid for a baby, it's a rather tricky purchase decision. Do you go for the always-sporty baseball hat? Or the casual, beach bucket hat that's sure to never stay on a kid's head?... We opted for the plaid derby/driver hat. It suits Owen, I think. The blue matches his eyes. The plaid matches his style. His style? See, I think Owen has a more preppy style than his dad. (In a perfect world of Casual Fridays, I'd personally rock the Urban Outfitters vs. J.Crew). The kid just somehow looks more comfortable in an outfit from Baby Gap than he does from some hipster boutique like Pacifier. Call me crazy, but it's my theory. Cute either way, though. I've said too much.

Reading is fun.

A couple weeks ago, the school was looking for parent volunteers to read stories to the class. I like reading stories and making a fool of myself (plus, Katie was super swamped at the Bullseye with work that week). Owen didn't pay much attention to his ol' Dad, but the other kids were digging me since I was a new face in the middle of their day. I read "Fuzzy Chicks" and "Blankie" a couple times and played peek-a-boo before heading back to my lovely, corporate-issued charcoal cubicle. It was fun to get out and play with Owen and the kids. Got to do that more often.

Things are looking up.

This blog is all about Owen, so we don't like to blab about our day jobs here. But since we have a lot of blog followers with kiddos, I wanted to let you know about a new brand at Target that I worked on called up & up. It's replacing the old Target Brand diapers and other baby stuff, and looks better the its predecessor if I don't say so myself. My contributions to up & up? The brand name as well as the idea of having a witty little line on each package. We're all really proud of this brand here at the Bullseye.

I got stripes.

For some reason that Johnny Cash song "I Got Stripes" is going through my head right now as I post this photo. I wonder why. Owen + Brobee = stripey goodness.

Bonus post for you weekend blog peekers.

Here are some random photos that didn't quite fit any one blog posting. Enjoy. Especially the one with Owen having a static-filled hair day...

All ears.

Over a year ago, a friend at work (Kristen) gave us this 100% certifiably-adorable outfit for our baby-to-be. Back then, the name was "Baby R" and we didn't have proof that we'd be having a boy. But we held on to this boyish outfit b/c I was convinced we were having a boy from the start (as Katie shakes her head). Good thing we kept it. In these pics, O reminds me of Max from Where the Wild Things Are.
By the way, how righteous does the new WWTA movie look? I can see a "date night" in our October future. I'm in.

Modeling gig #3.

You might remember our post about "Fake Daddy" and O's last modeling gig. Even my Dad admitted on the phone the other night: "Yeah Trav, that guy really IS good looking", as if to say "No way, you can't compete with that." Point taken. Well, lucky for me O's third gig required no bronzed Adonis in the photo. It was just Owen sitting there and looking cute while the Baby Handler Guy stood off to the side waving a feather duster around and making cartoon noises with his mouth. Bizarre, yes. But I guess it helps with getting "the shot." The photographer and everyone there just loved having Owen back. I think O made the whole crew's job easier for that one hour. Baby Handler Guy made a joke: "Looks like it's Bring Your Daddy to Work Day." Funny, clown man.
